HDR is seeking a Utility Coordination and Design Business Class Director. The function is to focus on the technical delivery of our products and services; they will help position HDR as a preferred service provider in the area of Utility Coordination and Design. This position serves as the technical leader for the Utility Coordination and Design Business Class and has responsibility for quality assurance, resource availability and development, as well as project delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate monthly calls with Business Class leadership and section managers, addressing key items including ongoing development, project identification, workload, utilization and staffing needs.
  • Participate in Project Approach and Resource (PARR) reviews and evaluations.
  • Perform project reviews or audits to validate quality practices; review technical and performance issues, develop remedial action.
  • Serve as the focal point for the Transportation Business Group to deliver Utility Coordination and Design services in collaboration with other Business Groups or Business Classes throughout HDR.
  • Identify and develop technical leaders within the business class for key projects, programs and initiatives.
  • Participate in the hiring process, promote staff interaction and communication, support technical development programs, manage workshare and project assignments, and provide direct project support in leading select projects.
  • Participate in marketing activities, including supporting or developing project proposals, staffing assignments and sub‑consultant identification.
  • Travel nationally as required, with an average travel estimate of 15–25%.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a closely related professional field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the related field, with professional or engineering registration and related technical experience.
  • Experience in development and management of diverse teams.
  • Collaborative work with other business class directors, operations managers, technical directors and marketing managers.
  • Commitment to quality, improvement and HDR values.
  • Active participation in employee‑owned culture is a must.

Location and Travel

Primary location: United States – Texas – Round Rock. The role is non‑specific, however a location with significant HDR presence is preferred. Average travel requirement is estimated at 15% with monthly variations between 15% and 25%.

Compensation

US: $163,422–$337,222; Canada: $209,622–$313,720 (depending on location and experience).
