Overview
Altium PCB Layout Specialist. Aviation & Missile Solutions (AMS) is seeking an Altium PCB layout specialist on an as-needed consultant basis. This position will not be benefit eligible and will be engaged in a consultant capacity. Position Description
AMS designs advanced high frequency RF and mixed signal circuit boards for DoD customers. The candidate will perform parts creation, parts layout, power plane placement, signal routing, design rule checks, and documentation creation using the Altium toolset. The candidate will work with a small team of 2-3 electrical engineers and one mechanical engineer on boards of various sizes and complexity. The candidate will need to route RF signals up to 20 GHz and high-speed serial signals up to 100 GHz using appropriate microwave techniques. The candidate will work with AMS' mechanical engineer to resolve PCB packaging challenges. Required Experience
Basic Qualifications (required) Candidate must be a US citizen Must have a proficient working knowledge of the Altium design ecosystem. Candidate must be familiar with high-speed routing techniques and types of PCB signals such as microstrip, coplanar waveguide, etc. Candidate must be knowledgeable about power plane layout best practices. Candidate must be able to comfortably interact with and present to customers, coworkers and management on a regular basis. Preferred Skills/Abilities
10+ years' experience is desired but not necessary. Candidate is expected to bring experience and knowledge to the design process and assist engineers with layout technique expertise if possible. Familiarity with CAD is a plus. Candidates who can perform basic schematic capture in Altium are desired. Resident of the Huntsville, AL area or be willing to relocate. Good people skills and the desire to work with a highly technical team of engineers and scientists. Required Education And Experience
Candidate must possess an accredited High School Diploma. A minimum of 10 years of applicable experience is preferred. Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times. Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities. Security Requirements
