RADIO DISPATCHER Seasonal Positions $14.40/hour - $18.46/hour 2nd & 3rd shifts, weekends and holidays
The State of New Hampshire, Department of Transportation, Bureau of Highway Maintenance, has seasonal vacancies for Radio Dispatcher positions.
Summary Operates all communications equipment, relays information and dispatches office or field forces as required for a large diverse highway operations District.
Experience & Substitutions YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS: Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.

Education/Experience : 8th grade education
License/Certification : None
Other Requirements : None

Preferred Qualifications
One year of communication experience, which includes typing, dispatching, computer/word processing or radio communications.
Ability to work with and maintain confidential information.

The work of an employee in trainee status in this position shall be overseen by a fully qualified individual. An employee in trainee status shall meet the minimum qualifications within the period of time specified on the SJD, not to exceed one year of being hired into this position.
Responsibilities
Receives calls via telephone, two-way radio, and computer, and directs the information to the proper state or outside agency to resolve highway problems or provide emergency assistance.
Maintains a log of office communications to ensure an accurate record of the District’s operations is available for future use.
Acts as a receptionist for the District Office to provide routine information to the general public.
Operates a word processor and varied office equipment to prepare various permits or written communications.
Compiles road and weather information to provide the Communications Center with a periodic highway status throughout the District.
Performs work in full conformance with all risk management, safety, and environmental standards, regulations, and administrative orders.
