Role Overview As a
Senior Tax Analyst,
you will be a key player in our client's Global Indirect Tax team. Reporting directly to the Global Indirect Tax Manager, you will oversee the preparation and submission of complex multi-state transactional tax filings. This isn't just about compliance—you'll be expected to analyze large datasets to uncover tax savings, support audits, and help shape efficient tax strategies in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
Responsibilities
Compliance Management:
Lead the preparation and timely submission of monthly state and local transactional tax filings.
Data Analytics:
Analyze and reconcile massive financial datasets to ensure accuracy and identify potential liabilities or refund opportunities.
Audit Support:
Serve as a primary point of contact and provide robust documentation for state and local tax audits.
Strategic Optimization:
Collaborate with Finance and Legal teams to develop and implement tax strategies that minimize company liability.
Regulatory Monitoring:
Stay ahead of changing indirect tax laws specifically impacting the hospitality and lodging industry.
Process Improvement:
Leverage tools like Alteryx and Vertex to automate workflows and enhance reporting efficiency.
Qualifications Education & Experience
Bachelor's Degree:
Required (Accounting or Taxation preferred).
Industry Experience:
3–5+ years of progressive tax experience. A background in the
hospitality/lodging industry
or
public accounting
is highly preferred.
Professional Certification:
CPA license is a significant plus.
Technical Expertise
Advanced Excel:
Must be proficient in complex formulas, VLOOKUPs, and pivot tables.
Tax Software:
Familiarity with
Vertex On Demand
is preferred.
ERP Systems:
Experience with
PeopleSoft
or
Oracle
is preferred.
Data Automation:
Experience with
Alteryx
is a major plus.
Core Competencies
Subject Matter Expertise:
Deep understanding of multi-state indirect tax laws (Sales & Use, Occupancy, etc.).
Analytical Rigor:
Proven ability to reconcile large, complex data sets with high attention to detail.
Resilience:
Ability to remain professional and "even-keeled" under pressure and while managing competing deadlines.
Communication:
Strong verbal and written skills for presenting findings to internal stakeholders and external auditors.
