Job Duties & Responsibilities
Produce Fire Alarm drawings in accordance with the scope of work and budget as defined by contract documents and sales estimate, ensuring equipment compatibility.
Provide AutoCAD labor and direction as required to complete submittals and other engineered drawings accurately and professionally.
Interpret project documents, estimates, and other information to select the proper equipment to achieve the scope of work in the most economical and functional manner.
Accurately forecast necessary labor to engineer a complete project and track this over time to achieve budget and forecast goals.
Recommend technical solutions to sales and operations and continually research outside purchase products.
Communicate with internal employees to ensure engineering is accurate and timely.
Provide input to others as requested to assist in accurate estimation, value engineering, design, installation, start-up, commissioning, and training for building systems.
Communicate with external organizations such as consulting engineers, building owners, and other contractors to ensure accurate and timely engineering.
Provide support for ongoing service engineering and support for existing building systems.
Complete Bill of Materials for every project.
Suggest/recommend new products that provide better functionality and value to projects.
Generate Requests for Information (RFIs) to clarify design issues and recommend appropriate solutions as necessary.
Other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of high school diploma.
Two-year technical degree in drafting or electronics-related studies preferred.
Other technical experience such as military, on-the-job training programs, etc., may meet this requirement as determined by local management.
NICET Certification.
Experience and expertise including but not limited to: basic computer systems including MS Office Suite, including AutoCAD.
Ability to configure and debug basic computer problems.
NFPA knowledge required.
Ability to conduct field surveys for projects.
International Fire Code knowledge required.
Coordinate Fire Alarm design with existing structure and other MEP contractors.
Communicate with sales and other departments to optimize design efficiency for fabrication and installation of systems.
Clear verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Expertise with MS Office Suite and AutoCAD.
5+ years of experience configuring and debugging computer problems.
5+ years of experience conducting field surveys for projects.
NICET IV certification.
Familiarity with Honeywell’s Notifier.
Essential Job Functions
Be able to lift and carry drawings, personal computers, material, and spend significant time sitting.
Be able to lift up to 30 lbs.
Be able to spend significant time standing and walking.
Be able to climb flights of stairs throughout a typical day.
Maintain a satisfactory driving record per Climatec’s vehicle policy when driving a company vehicle or participating in an auto allowance program.
