We are seeking a

Sales & Estimating Engineer

to support customer engagement, RFQ review, and cost estimating for CNC-machined components and assemblies. This role operates in a

team-based environment

with shared quoting, engineering, and sales responsibilities. Compensation is

salary only

to support collaboration, accuracy, and long-term customer relationships. The role may be filled at either a

junior or senior level , depending on experience. Key Responsibilities (All Levels)

Review inbound RFQs, prints, models, and specifications to determine manufacturing fit. Communicate with customers to clarify requirements, assumptions, and revisions. Build and maintain professional, long-term customer relationships. Support inbound and outbound business development activities as part of a team (no individual quotas). Prepare professional quotes, proposals, and supporting documentation. Develop cost estimates including material, labor, machine time, tooling, outside services, inspection, and overhead. Apply pricing strategies and margin targets while maintaining competitiveness. Identify risks, assumptions, and exclusions within quotes. Interface with engineering, production, quality, and purchasing to validate routing, capacity, and lead times. Technical & Internal Support

Provide basic Design for Manufacturability (DFM) feedback when appropriate. Support technical clarification, revision cycles, and change management. Participate in continuous improvement related to estimating accuracy and quote turnaround time. Comply with applicable customer and regulatory requirements (ITAR, NDAs, quality system requirements, etc.). Experience Level Expectations

1–3 Years Experience

Developing estimating skills with peer review and guidance Solid understanding of machining processes and print reading Growing confidence in customer-facing communication Learning margin management and RFQ prioritization 7–10 Years Experience

Independent, high-accuracy estimating with minimal oversight Strong DFM input and early RFQ risk identification Trusted technical and commercial interface with customers Ability to mentor junior team members and improve quoting processes Qualifications

Required

Experience in a CNC machine shop or custom manufacturing environment Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings (basic GD&T preferred) Strong organizational and communication skills Proficiency with ERP/CRM systems and Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets Preferred

Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Business (or equivalent experience) Experience with CNC milling, turning, multi-axis, and secondary operations Familiarity with CAD software (AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks) Experience with aerospace, medical, energy (oil, nuclear), or defense work Why This Role
