Lockheed Martin Aeronautics' Production Engineering Central Services (PECS) team is committed to the company’s Digital Transformation. We are seeking a highly skilled, independent, and self‑motivated Technical Writer to modernize our process documentation and help shape the next generation production engineering knowledge platform.
About the Role The Technical Writer will incorporate changes to the current process manual (PM9003) while designing and implementing a future‑focused documentation architecture. Working closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) across multiple sites, you will translate complex concepts into clear, reusable, and user‑friendly content that supports next‑generation aerospace manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
Create & maintain core information products – process manuals, reference guides, job aids, and online help systems that align with Lockheed Martin’s operations roadmap.
Develop documentation standards – author and maintain a comprehensive style guide for Production Engineering documentation.
Leverage content management & publishing tools – use Adobe FrameMaker, XML/HTML workflows, SharePoint, Confluence, and related tools to produce electronic publications.
Collaborate with SMEs – conduct interviews, workshops, and review sessions to capture technical knowledge and convert it into concise, user‑centric content.
Structure information for discoverability – apply information architecture principles, modular authoring, and taxonomy best practices to make content easy to find and reuse.
Enhance user experience – recommend and implement improvements to documentation delivery platforms and overall content strategy.
Support business transformation – participate in cross‑functional Production Engineering initiatives that drive process optimization and digital adoption.
Location and Schedule Primary location: Ft. Worth, TX. Alternate locations: Palmdale, CA or Marietta, GA. 100% onsite. Shift: First. Schedule: Four 10‑hour days, three days off per week.

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communications, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
Proven proficiency with Adobe FrameMaker (or equivalent DITA/structured authoring tools).
Demonstrated ability to create clear, concise process documentation for complex technical subjects.
Ability to obtain and maintain an Active Secret Clearance.
Desired Skills
Exceptional written and verbal skills; mastery of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
Development of enterprise‑wide style guides and documentation frameworks.
Creation of reference manuals, job guides, or online help systems for manufacturing or software applications.
Familiarity with XML, HTML, Python, or Visual Basic for content automation or scripting.
Experience with SharePoint, Confluence, Microsoft Teams, WordPress or other CMS platforms.
Proven track record of virtual collaboration with geographically dispersed teams.
Strong planning, organization, analytical, and decision‑making abilities.
Security Clearance Statement This position requires a government security clearance. US citizenship is required for consideration. Clearance level: Secret.
