Customer Service Representative

The Customer Service Representative supports customers and internal teams by ensuring accurate order processing, clear communication, and efficient coordination throughout the fulfillment cycle. This role requires strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage high-volume transactional work while delivering excellent service. This is a Contract role located near Gurnee, IL. Key Responsibilities: Entered and processed customer orders with a high degree of accuracy through EDI, email, customer portals, and internal order management systems, ensuring timely fulfillment and proper documentation. Responded to customer inquiries regarding order status, pricing, product availability, shipping updates, and returns, providing prompt, professional communication across phone, email, and messaging channels. Coordinated closely with logistics, warehouse, and shipping teams to schedule pickups, track deliveries, troubleshoot delays, and ensure orders were completed according to customer expectations. Resolved discrepancies by reviewing pricing, confirming purchase order details, and partnering with sales, finance, and operations to maintain smooth workflows and resolve issues quickly. Updated customer accounts, maintained spreadsheets, and monitored order backlogs to ensure data accuracy, inventory visibility, and effective follow-through on open orders. Supported cross-functional teams by providing documentation, assisting with order changes, processing credits/claims, and contributing to continuous workflow improvements. Skills and Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree preferred. 12 years of experience in Customer Service or Order Entry. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with ERP systems is a plus. Strong organizational and time management skills. Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities. Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation.
