We are looking for an experienced Fire Sprinkler Designer to join our team. Individuals will create detailed plans for automatic fire protection systems using specialized software. This includes layouts, hydraulic calculations, stock listing, submittal packages, etc. Candidates will work closely with our current team of designers and project managers while also coordinating with contractors, local authorities, and architects to integrate fire sprinkler systems into building designs. Strong knowledge of applicable codes, experience with AutoCAD and a passion for the industry are essential qualities.

Responsibilities

Design, coordinate and manage fire sprinkler systems for commercial, industrial and residential buildings.

Potential design work for ongoing data center projects.

Operate with minimal supervision while completing designs and submittals in a timely manner.

Design wet, dry and pre-action automatic sprinkler systems including fire pumps, standpipes and water storage tanks.

Perform hydraulic calculations.

Ensure sprinkler designs meet NFPA standards, specifications, engineered drawings and AHJ requirements.

Review construction contract documents, drawings and specifications.

Prepare submittal packages for AHJ and Engineer of Record.

Prepare stock list for all materials to be used throughout a project.

Perform BIM modeling on specific projects and participate in coordination meetings.

Field survey existing buildings and perform on-site visits as needed.

Communicate with design team members and project managers.

Assist field personnel with installation issues and questions.

Communicate with general contractors, engineers and architects as needed.

Prepare all job close-out documents.

Qualifications

Applicable degree from a technical school or college.

Experience with specialized fire sprinkler layout software; AutoCAD/HydraCad preferred.

5+ years of experience as a fire sprinkler designer.

Experience with BIM software preferred.

NICET II or NICET III certification or ability to obtain.

Strong knowledge of NFPA standards.

Demonstrated quality computer skills.

Ability to read and interpret construction documents, drawings, and specifications.

Possess good communication skills, both verbal and written.
