This Aquatics Director supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Under the direction of Branch Executive, the Aquatics Director is responsible for providing leadership to the operations of the Aquatics and Lifeguarding Departments. This position is also responsible for providing staff supervision, budget management, and programmatic planning to those departments. This includes but is not limited to supervision of Aquatics staff, ensuring compliance with all Association standards and state laws, and oversight of facility pool(s) and equipment. Responsibilities

Program Management & Development Monitoring, scheduling, and growth of all aquatic programs. Update program registrations in the computer software system, as well as monthly pool schedules. Ongoing development and monitoring of the aquatics and lifeguard department budgets. Staff Management and Supervision Hire, train, schedule, and evaluate all swim lesson instructors and lifeguards. Supervise assigned staff and find appropriate substitutes in the event of any conflicts. Monitor and correct semi-monthly payroll. Facility and Equipment Management Maintain the aquatics department equipment and ensure clean facilities. Maintain pool chemical levels to appropriate standards. Maintain DHEC and YMCA records and chemical logs. Safety and Compliance Understand and observe all safety rules and regulations. Community Engagement and Leadership Provide leadership on branch and association committees, as well as being a representative for the YMCA in the community. Actively participate in the annual support campaign. Other expectations Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers. Attend/complete required abuse risk management training Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising consumers. Follow mandated reporting requirements. Adhere to job specific abuse risk management responsibilities. Maintenance Employees-ensure unused rooms and closets remain locked; routinely monitor high-risk locations (locker-rooms and bathrooms), etc. Follow employees and volunteers' screening requirements and use screening instruments to screen for abuse risk. Provide employees and volunteers with ongoing supervision and training related to abuse risk. Provide employees and volunteers with regular feedback regarding their boundaries with consumers. Require employees and volunteers to adhere to policies and procedures related to abuse risk. Respond quickly to policy and procedure violations using the organization's progressive disciplinary procedures. Respond seriously and confidentially to reports of suspicious and inappropriate behavior. Follow mandated reporting requirements. Communicate to all employees and volunteers the organization's commitment to protect their consumer from abuse. Report essential abuse risk management information to the board of directors. Qualifications

*Compensation will be determined commensurate qualifications and experience. Bachelor's degree in health/wellness, physical education or a related field and/or equivalent work experience. Three (3) years of experience or similar knowledge of the aquatic field specifically with pool management, swim instruction, teaching, lifeguarding. Two years (2) of experience in effectively supervising and managing part-time staff. Must be certified as a lifeguard and swim instructor, as well as hold current certifications in CPR for the professional rescuer, First Aid, BBP, AED, and O2. Knowledge of state bathing codes and YMCA standards. Experienced knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Demonstrated ability to train lifeguards and swim instructors. Excellent communication and public relations skills.
