POSITION SUMMARY The Rare Beauty Photo & Video Art Director, reporting to the Creative Director, align with Creative and Brand Marketing goals to ensure all organic imagery and motion content being concepted, executed and curated is meeting brand standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Works cross-functionally to assess Brand and Creative needs to ensure content is captured in a way that is engaging and consistent with brand standards.

Leads and executes image and video art direction across channels

Creates and presents concept decks to Creative Director for review

Creates storyboards for motion shoots

Communicates shoot objectives cross-functionally, ensuring stakeholders are aligned and required brand assets are captured.

Collaborates with Brand Marketing for most up to date asset needs

Directs on model and product photo and video shoots

Provides retouching and editing notes after shoot wraps

Works closely with the Producer to manage the shoot calendar and ensure on-time shoot execution

Partners with producer and freelance crews to maintain in‑house studio standards

Distributes assets post shoots to stakeholders

Keeps Creative team updated on asset capture statuses in weekly meetings

Directs assets to be used for design by project specifications in order to support a unified creative rollouts, ensuring brand consistency across channels

Tracks brand’s image and video rights and usages, ensuring that expired assets do not get distributed or renewal requests are relayed to producer

Creates asset guidelines, assuring assets are being used for intended purposes

Owns internal asset library, being point person for brand owned images and video

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in film, photography, digital design, graphic design, or a related field

5+ years proven experience in Photo and Video Art Direction or similar role

Thorough understanding of photography, typography and design for print and digital

Experience within the beauty, fashion, and lifestyle industries a plus

Knowledge of current photographers, directors, product stylists and other talent within industry

Ability to troubleshoot and be flexible in a fast‑moving, multi‑tasking environment with numerous deadlines; ability to juggle between multiple projects with strong attention to detail

Ability to foster collaborative and productive working relationships with all levels within the company and across multiple disciplines

Basic knowledge of design and video software programs

Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office Suite

Comfort in communicating post notes to retouchers and editors in a timely fashion

A team player with exceptional organizational, technical and communication skills

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer

Occasionally moves product and/or equipment weighing up to 20 pounds across office for various needs

Occasionally moves about inside the office to access storage rooms, office machinery, etc.

Infrequent domestic and international travel, as needed
