divh2Nuclear Medicine Technologist/h2pExternal applicants earn up to $6,000 sign-on bonus!/ppWork shift: Day/ppScheduled weekly hours: 24/ppThis position supports Mercys philosophy of patient-centered care by helping in the diagnosis and treatment of certain diseases or other metabolic processes utilizing nuclear medicine and Positron Emission Tomography Computed Tomography./ppJob duties:/pulliEnsure that all accurate and clinically relevant information is communicated with patients, their families, and co-workers at hand-offs and other times as needed./liliTake all measures necessary to ensure that the appropriate and involved parties have communicated necessary information in order to allow for the best possible patient outcome./liliInterviews the patient to obtain a history appropriate to the exam ordered and explain the nuclear medicine exam to the patient and answer any questions they might have./liliEstablishes intravenous access using sterile technique to inject radiopharmaceuticals./liliPositions and immobilizes patient on scanning table using supportive devices to obtain precise patient position./liliEnters technical data into imaging/processing computers and adjust scan parameters for mitigating circumstances that may be presented./liliFollows prescribed safety standards for operating imaging equipment./liliEvaluates digital images and computer-generated information for technical quality and prepares the data for radiologist review on the PACs system in accordance with set guidelines./liliPerforms and documents quality assurance procedures in accordance with departmental guidelines./liliFollows set guidelines and maintains required documentation for the safe handling and dispensing of radioactive materials and demonstrates appropriate infection control precautions./liliMaintains overall cleanliness of the department and all associated equipment in accordance with infection control policies and procedures./liliFollows established nuclear medicine protocols and procedures./liliPerforms and documents surveys and wipe tests of incoming and outgoing radioactive shipments in accordance with departmental policies./liliTroubleshoots basic problems that may occur with imaging and processing equipment./liliOperates a nuclear medicine information system that is used to maintain records for regulatory compliance./liliFollows Mercys safety guidelines, carries out job-specific safety duties and responsibilities, and promptly reports any unsafe conditions, situations, incidents, and injuries./li/ulpKnowledge, skills, and abilities:/pulliAbility to operate molecular imaging equipment./liliCompetent with computed tomography scanning, department information system, and Picture Archiving and Communications System (PACS)./li/ulpProfessional experience:/ppPreferred: 12 years nuclear medicine experience in a full range of nuclear medicine imaging procedures including PET/CT and/or SPECT/CT./ppEducation:/ppEducation sufficient to obtain required licensure/certification./ppLicensure, certification, registration:/pulliCurrently certified by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) in nuclear medicine./liliIowa Department of Public Health Iowa permit to practice nuclear medicine./liliCurrent certification in basic life support (BLS) in accordance with the American Heart Association required./liliIowa dependent adult abuse/Iowa child abuse mandatory reporter training required./liliEmployee must submit certification of completed training prior to start or transfer date./li/ulpPay rate type: Hourly/ppMercy is an independent, community-based organization supporting the Cedar Rapids area for over 120 years.
