Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15 years of experience building enterprise software.
  • 10 years of experience leading and scaling engineering teams of 500+.
  • 10 years of experience building cloud products.
  • 5 years of experience in designing, developing, and deploying security solutions for large-scale cloud platforms.

Preferred qualifications

  • Master's degree or PhD in Engineering or Cybersecurity.
  • Experience successfully building software for large-scale distributed systems.
  • Understanding of cloud security principles, architectures, and technologies.
  • Proven track record of delivering within timelines.
  • Proven leadership in managing cross-functional engineering teams at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Drive innovation by identifying and evaluating new security technologies and trends, translating them into strategic investments that enhance customer security posture. Foster a security-first culture within the engineering teams.
  • Lead a team of security engineers, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaboration. Forge strong partnerships with senior leadership in Google Cloud's security, engineering, and product organizations to ensure seamless integration and alignment of security initiatives.
  • Collaborate with customers and partners to understand their security requirements and translate them into actionable product roadmaps. Drive security, identity, and protection directly into our platform, scaling for both 1P and 3P users.
  • Scale the engineering organization to meet the growing security demands of the GCP business.
  • Ensure that all GCP products meet the highest security compliance standards. Drive risk assessment, and mitigation strategies for security products.

As the VP of Engineering for Cloud Protection Platform & Products, you will be the driving motivation behind the engineering strategy for one of the world\'s most advanced cloud platforms.

The US base salary for this full-time position is $550,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
