
Position Overview
The
Director of Business Development
will be a senior individual contributor and front-line revenue generator, responsible for identifying, developing, and closing new business opportunities. This role will sit alongside another senior hunter and work closely with sales leadership, account management, and operations. The ideal candidate brings existing
freight forwarding and project cargo relationships , understands port-centric logistics, and is comfortable selling complex industrial warehousing and heavy lift solutions rather than transactional freight. Key Responsibilities
Generate new revenue through
freight forwarders, OEMs, EPCs, and project logistics providers Expand relationships with
Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs)
producing heavy, oversized, or energy-related equipment Leverage an existing
book of business
within the freight forwarding and project cargo ecosystem Identify opportunities tied to
energy and green-energy infrastructure projects , including large battery systems Partner with Account Management and Operations to ensure smooth project execution Collaborate with leadership on go-to-market strategy, pricing, and long-term contracts Maintain a strong new-business pipeline with accurate forecasting Represent the organization at customer meetings, port-related activities, and industry events Provide input on
commission design and sales incentives
as the organization scales Candidate Profile
Proven
hunter
with a track record of new business development Existing industry relationships and transferable book of business in:
Freight forwarding Project cargo Heavy lift or industrial logistics
Experience selling into:
OEMs EPCs Energy or renewable energy supply chains
Strong understanding of
port operations, FTZ warehousing, and project logistics Comfortable operating in a PE-backed, growth-oriented environment Self-motivated, relationship-driven, and execution-focused Experience with CargoWise or similar systems is a plus
