Who We Want We’re looking for a Business Development Associate who thrives in a fast-paced environment and understands how to build meaningful relationships in the perishable freight space. The ideal candidate is confident communicating with customers, skilled at identifying emerging opportunities, and able to translate market trends into practical guidance. If you bring experience in logistics, customer sales, or account development and enjoy blending data with clear communication, you’ll excel here.
What You’ll Do As a Business Development Associate, you will support customer outreach, assist with quoting, and help strengthen how Fresh Freight engages the market. You will collaborate with marketing on outreach campaigns, film short video messages for customers, and help identify new sales opportunities across multiple market segments. You will also partner with operations to ensure service expectations and lane pricing strategy are aligned with both the needs of the customer and Fresh Freight.
Primary Responsibilities
Support customer communication through calls, email, branded updates, and short video outreach messages.
Assist with accurate lane quotes for reefer, dry van, and program freight using market insights and internal guidance.
Help identify and pursue new sales opportunities across regions, commodities, and customer networks.
Collaborate with marketing to support customer touch points, outreach sequences, and seasonal communication.
Partner with operations to help align lane strategy, service expectations, and capacity planning.
Maintain clean CRM records for communication, quotes, activity, and sales opportunities.
Stay current on market conditions by reviewing DAT trends, USDA reports, seasonal produce shifts, weather impacts, and freight industry publications.
Qualifications
0–2 years in transportation, logistics, customer sales, or account management (or relevant internship experience)
Sales experience in a customer-facing role (inside sales, business development, account support, or similar)
Interest in freight markets, quoting, and cross-functional collaboration
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and comfort learning CRM and transportation tools (TMS, pricing tools, etc.)
Ability to review data and help create clear, customer-ready summaries and updates
Comfort filming short outreach messages for customer communication
Strong organization, urgency, and clarity in day-to-day execution
Background in produce or refrigerated freight preferred
