We have a unique opportunity for an Optical Trainer in our Southeast Region. This is a field position requiring travel within VA, NC, SC, Western TN, GA, AL, MS, LA, and FL. It is highly desired to have someone physically located in Florida who is bi‑lingual in English and Spanish. The role : The Optical Trainer is responsible for delivering high‑quality training and development to optical staff and Silhouette colleagues, ensuring excellent clinical standards, customer service, and commercial performance. The role supports the ongoing professional development of optometrists, dispensing opticians, and optical assistants in line with regulatory, company, and industry standards. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 100% Silhouette Lens program – trainer will work closely with program lead on updates & overall program sales, including virtual and in‑person trainings; Support Regional Managers and Account Executives in designated region with virtual and in‑person ECP training; Train new AE’s in region on technical and business topics as necessary; Plan schedules and training expectations; Provide feedback from accounts; Provide Lab technical trainings where applicable; Organize webinar programs and conduct for internal employees as well as external accounts aligned with customer service; Provide technical content for various outbound communications; Support Marketing events where applicable – i.e., Trade shows, while providing ABO approved technical trainings; Eyewear fittings as needed for staff, staff friends, press, influencers, family members (etc); Key Responsibilities Design, deliver, and evaluate optical training programs for new Silhouette employees, ECPs, and existing colleagues; Deliver ongoing brand, technical, and ECP sales training; Provide ECPs with professional development through training including sales, dispensing, and lens ordering; Ensure training aligns with company’s current sales strategies; Provide in‑store coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback; Identify skills gaps and create tailored development plans; Support store managers in developing high‑performing optical teams; Maintain accurate training records by documenting training event in Salesforce; Train teams on best practices, standard operating procedures, and resources management; Stay up to date with industry developments and innovations; Collaborate with sales and training team to identify training opportunities; Collaborate with external partners when needed; Support company‑wide initiatives and change programs; Personal Attributes Passionate about learning and development Highly organized with strong attention to detail Adaptable and comfortable working across multiple locations as well as virtually Industry‑seasoned with a customer‑focused mindset Skills/Experience/Qualifications Qualified optical professional preferred with 5+ years of experience (e.g., technical optician, ophthalmic and/or wholesale lab experience) preferably with Silhouette products; Be certified as an ABO Technical Speaker or willing to gain certification (support provided); Proven experience in training, coaching, or mentoring; Strong communication and presentation skills; Excellent knowledge of optical dispensing, clinical standards, and customer care; Ability to influence, motivate, and engage teams; Bi‑lingual in English/Spanish is desired. Education:
Associate’s degree in Opticianry preferred; Licensed dispensing optician, ABO certified (or able to achieve ABO certification); preferred, will accept equivalent work experience with demonstrated results. Physical Demands:
Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds (training kits, samples as needed, etc). Valid & Clean Driving License:
The role needs valid/current driver’s license. Travel:
The role involves air, train, and auto travel (50‑80% of the time) between offices, practices, or training sites. Travel could be overnight with additional domestic and international travel as required. Equipment Used:
