Who You’ll Work With In this role, you’ll collaborate across a wide network of partners spanning Business Operations, IT, and Governance functions. You’ll work closely with:
Operations Leadership – partnering to align technology delivery with business priorities, production readiness, and service-level outcomes.
Enterprise Technology Teams – coordinating with application owners, development leads, and infrastructure teams to ensure stability and timely delivery of platform enhancements.
Risk, Compliance, and Audit Partners – ensuring technology change management and automation governance meet enterprise standards.
Executive Leadership – presenting updates at Monthly Business Reviews, summarizing production support trends, outage impacts, and future IT deliverables influencing operational performance.
This is a highly visible role that interacts with senior stakeholders across the organization—ideal for a leader who can translate complex technology dynamics into actionable business insight and drive collaboration across multiple disciplines.
About The Role Operations Technology & Workflow Governance Director plays a critical leadership role in connecting business operations with technology delivery. This position oversees three high-impact teams that collectively ensure the stability, enhancement, and governance of the systems supporting our core operations. You will be responsible for driving the timely resolution of production defects and ensuring disciplined governance over workflow and automation tools. Through close partnership with IT and business leaders, you’ll help shape how technology enables efficiency, accuracy, and scalability across the organization.
This role requires a strategic leader who can see across multiple operational and technology domains—balancing production stability with forward-looking innovation. You will regularly present updates to senior leadership summarizing production health, outage impacts, and upcoming IT deliverables that influence business performance.
What You Need To Know
Provide overall leadership across three specialized teams supporting business-critical operations platforms and technology governance.
Serve as the primary liaison between Business Operations and IT, ensuring transparency, prioritization, and timely delivery of production fixes and system enhancements.
Represent Operations Technology in Monthly Business Reviews, delivering executive-level updates on production performance, outage impacts, and the forward timeline of IT initiatives impacting business processes.
Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, and proactive issue management across all support and delivery teams.
Oversee the triage, prioritization, and resolution of all production defects impacting business operations.
Monitor system outages and coordinate cross-functional mitigation efforts, including post-incident impact assessments and lessons learned.
Own operational governance of the enterprise workflow platform (Chorus), including performance oversight, enhancement intake, and prioritization.
Establish and enforce governance frameworks for Robotic Process Automation (RPA) using Automation Anywhere, ensuring compliance, control, and audit readiness.
Consolidate and present a cohesive “Technology in Operations” view to executive leadership—covering system health, defect trends, RPA governance, and upcoming releases.
Proactively identify risks related to technology dependencies or change collisions and recommend mitigation plans.

Experience What we’re looking for:
10+ years of progressive experience in insurance or financial services operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing technology-enabled operations or platform governance.
Demonstrated experience managing multiple teams or workstreams supporting production support, system enhancement delivery, and workflow automation.
Proven ability to operate in a matrixed organization, influencing both business and IT stakeholders at senior levels.
Strong understanding of insurance operations processes, particularly in life, annuity, or group retirement domains.
Experience overseeing enterprise platforms such as Chorus, Pega, Automation Anywhere, or equivalent workflow/RPA systems.
Familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC), defect management, and release coordination practices.
Working knowledge of IT change management, incident tracking, and governance frameworks.
Data-driven decision-maker with experience using metrics and dashboards to manage production stability and enhancement delivery.
Strategic thinker able to connect operational needs with long-term technology roadmaps.
Skilled at translating complex technology issues into clear business impacts for executive audiences.
Collaborative leader who fosters accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement across diverse teams.
Excellent communication and presentation skills; comfortable leading discussions at Monthly Business Reviews and executive governance forums.
