We are actively seeking a detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join our growing commercial construction team in the Chicago area. This role is perfect for a professional who can deliver accurate, competitive estimates while supporting successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities
Review architectural drawings, specifications, scopes, and project documents to develop complete and accurate estimates
Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and cost breakdowns for materials, labor, and equipment
Solicit, evaluate, and compare subcontractor and supplier pricing to ensure comprehensive and competitive bids
Prepare proposal packages, bid summaries, and all supporting documentation
Collaborate with project managers and leadership during preconstruction to identify risks, value‑engineering opportunities, and cost‑saving strategies
Assist in preparing budgets, preliminary schedules, and bid strategies for upcoming projects
Maintain and update cost databases and historical pricing records
Qualifications
Prior experience as a Construction Estimator in commercial construction
Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry standards
Ability to read and interpret plans, drawings, and technical documents
Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office
Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills
