Accounting/Auditing Salary & Compensation:
Base pay $130,000–$145,000 per year (negotiable up to $160,000 for the right candidate); annual discretionary bonus. We are seeking an experienced accounting leader to take full ownership of the finance and accounting function for a multi‑location wholesale distribution business. This hands‑on role includes managing a small team and improving processes across the organization. The position represents a strategic hand‑off from a Controller who has been with the company for 15 years and is moving into the President role. This is an exceptional opportunity for a skilled accounting leader to step in, bring structure, and support the next phase of growth. Key Responsibilities
Take full ownership of all financial operations, including month‑end close, journal entries, reconciliations, audits, and reporting. Manage accounts receivable, accounts payable, billing, collections, and cash management across multiple locations. Develop, implement, and strengthen internal controls, checks and balances, and standardized financial processes. Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning and analysis (FP&A). Oversee accounting for inventory‑heavy operations, POS systems, IT‑related finance, and fixed assets. Ensure compliance with audits, insurance reporting, 401(k) audits, and other regulatory requirements. Support commercial and AIA billing requirements as needed. Build, mentor, and lead a 4‑person accounting team. Collaborate with leadership to provide actionable financial insights and free executive time for strategic initiatives. Work with unionized teams and understand union labor accounting requirements. Qualifications
10–15 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in wholesale distribution of plumbing, hardware, or construction materials. Experience working with unionized employees. Proven leadership managing an accounting or finance team. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA is a plus. Hands‑on experience in AR/AP, collections, audits, budgeting, FP&A, fixed assets, inventory accounting, POS systems, and multi‑location operations. Strong ERP and advanced Excel skills. Practical, hands‑on, and process‑oriented approach. Strong communication skills and ability to work cross‑functionally with showroom, operations, and leadership teams. Culture & Work Style
