We have been engaged to assist our client, H2O America, in their search for a Director of Financial Planning and Analysis. H2O America is one of the largest investor-owned pure-play water and wastewater utilities in the United States, serving over 1.6 million people across California, Connecticut, Maine, and Texas.
The Director of Financial Planning & Analysis will lead enterprise-wide financial planning, forecasting, and performance management for a publicly traded, regulated utility operating in a highly complex regulatory and capital-intensive environment. Reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer, this role will serve as a strategic finance partner to executive leadership, providing insight into earnings, cash flow, rate impacts, capital investment, and long-term financial sustainability.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; MBA and/or CPA strongly preferred. Minimum 10 years of experience, including 3-5 years as a manager, in public accounting or a publicly traded company, with a focus on financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, etc.
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in financial planning and management for regulated utilities is preferred.
Demonstrated experience designing and executing an FP&A transformation, including automation of manual, spreadsheet-based processes, implementation of enterprise planning and analytics tools, and establishment of scalable, best-in-class FP&A operating models.
Experience in the implementation or upgrade of financial planning software.
Ability to travel domestically to various service territories as needed.
Location within one of H2O America’s service territories (CA, CT, ME, TX) is preferred; however, a fully remote candidate with monthly travel to San Jose, CA or other H2O America locations will be considered.
