Overview: The Resident Services Director oversees nursing services, directs professional and auxiliary nursing personnel, interprets policy and ensures regulatory compliance. This role maintains medication delivery, coordinates in‑service training, and attends to the physical, emotional, and social needs of residents to foster independence.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide nursing services to residents
Resident teaching, wellness counseling, health promotion, disease prevention
Manage chronic and stable conditions; verify medication regimens; assist with ADLs (bathing, dressing, eating, toileting, hygiene, mobility)
Ensure federal and state assisted living/memory care laws and state nursing commission regulations are met and maintained
Coordinate and manage resident care and services
Move‑In Process
Pre‑move‑in assessments, paperwork review, initial Service Plan Development
Assessment and Service Plan
Identify needs for additional assessment, health monitoring, or coordination of care
Service Plan review Process
Coordinate residents’ health care with families and outside health care agencies; refer when indicated
Conduct regular Service Plan Reviews with resident families and staff when care levels change
Staff Training, Education and Supervision
Coordinate initial orientation and training; review training documents as per policies and procedures
Conduct continuing training and education regularly; audit documentation and communication of Resident Care Services associates
Supervise assigned personnel in the delivery of nursing services and assist with activities
Proper and accurate documentation
Delegation
Provide RN and LPN delegation according to state regulations and community policy
Available after‑hours for current resident needs; may conduct offsite assessment
Infection Control
Maintain compliance with immunizations, infection control, and infectious disease management
Move Out / Discontinuation of Services
Assist residents who no longer require services
Quality Assurance
Complete routine auditing of all Resident Care systems per Review Schedule and QA tools
Responsible for monthly Resident Care Service staffing schedule; available after‑hours and on‑call
Meet monthly budget targets; discuss variances with the Executive Director
Participate in other Resident Care Services and community duties as assigned by the Executive Director
Education / Experience / Licensure / Certification
Registered Nurse with a valid Connecticut nursing license in good standing
Experience and passion working with seniors
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks up to 60 lbs (pushing, bending, lifting)
Maintain positive working relationships with residents, families, peers, and staff
Good physical and emotional health; free of communicable diseases
