The iconic Waldorf Astoria property in New Orleans, The Roosevelt, is seeking a Director of Security to join our team.
Overview Our luxury hotel offers an unparalleled combination of Southern hospitality, world‑class service, and historic surroundings. Located near the French Quarter, the Hotel features 504 rooms, over 60,000 square feet of meeting space, and five food and beverage outlets.
Responsibilities
Direct the flow of guest traffic (crowd control) in the lobby during high operational times and peak periods, such as the holiday season.
Administer all safety and security operations and functions, including safety programs, OSHA compliance, safety incentive programs, systems use, lost and found, budgeting and forecasting, and adherence to federal, state and local standards.
Direct patrol of the interior and perimeter of the hotel to identify potential safety and security risks.
Lead investigations of accidents, thefts, property loss, and unlawful activities.
Respond to emergency situations such as safety hazards, fires, medical emergencies, and threats to life or property.
Serve as primary liaison with federal, state and local law enforcement.
Oversee the administration and accuracy of all required reports and documentation.
Respond to guest inquiries and requests, resolving guest issues in a timely, friendly and efficient manner.
Monitor and develop team member performance, including supervision, professional development, scheduling, counseling, evaluations, and recognition.
Recruit, interview and train team members.
Specific Job Knowledge, Skill and Ability
Basic mathematical comprehension for hotel operations.
Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
Ability to handle internal and external customers with patience, tact and diplomacy.
Analytical and judgment‑making skills.
Computer proficiency with moderately complex systems.
Education High school graduate or equivalent required.
Experience
Minimum two years in a Director or related role.
Previous experience as Director of Safety & Security (Loss Prevention) or similar.
Previous luxury hotel experience preferred.
