Job Description - Director of Security - The Roosevelt New Orleans, A Waldorf Astoria Hotel (HOT0C9X6) The Roosevelt New Orleans, a Waldorf Astoria Hotel, is seeking a Director of Security to join our team. The property features 504 rooms, over 60,000 square feet of meeting space, and five food and beverage outlets (including two restaurants, a café, seasonal rooftop bar, and in-room dining). We are looking for an upbeat, outgoing individual to join the Security team. This role offers an opportunity to grow a career in the hospitality industry and security within a luxury hotel environment. A Director of Security and Safety is responsible for directing and administering the implementation of all safety and security programs and initiatives to ensure the safety of guests and team members and the security of the hotel and property, in the hotel's ongoing effort to deliver outstanding service and financial profitability. Responsibilities
Direct the flow of guest traffic (crowd control) in the lobby during high operational and peak times (e.g., holiday season). Direct and administer all safety and security operations and functions, including preserving safety and security of guests, team members and the facility; safe work practice promotion; OSHA compliance; safety incentive programs and classes; systems use and management; lost and found; budgeting and forecasting; department management; adherence to federal, state and local standards; and meeting participation and facilitation. Direct and administer patrols of the interior and perimeter of the hotel and property to identify potential safety and security risks and undesirable conditions. Direct and lead investigations of accidents, thefts, property loss and unlawful activities. Direct response to emergency situations including safety hazards, fires, medical emergencies and threats to life and/or property. Serve as primary liaison with federal, state and local law enforcement. Oversee the administration and accuracy of all required reports and documentation. Respond to guest inquiries and requests and resolve guest issues in a timely, friendly and efficient manner. Monitor and develop team member performance through supervision, professional development, scheduling, counseling and evaluations, and recognition/awards. Recruit, interview and train team members. The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation. Basic mathematical comprehension to understand and interpret numbers as they apply to hotel operations. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English to communicate effectively with guests and employees. Ability to effectively interact with internal and external customers with patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse conflicts and resolve issues. Ability to analyze information and make sound judgments. Ability to access and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system. Education
High school graduate or equivalent required. Experience
Minimum 2 years of experience in a Director role or similar. Previous experience as Director of Safety & Security (Loss Prevention) or progressive experience for the role. Previous luxury hotel experience, preferred. What are we looking for?
