
Senior Energy Analytics Consultant

Lumina is seeking an experienced energy modeler and consultant to take a leadership role in building decision applications for clients in energy and other areas.
Who we are Lumina is a small, growing software and consulting company, creator of the Analytica modeling software. We are based in Campbell, California, in Silicon Valley. We are open to hybrid or remote work. Lumina provides consulting and advanced decision applications to help organizations solve challenging problems in energy, environment, transport, finance, and healthcare. Lumina's clients range from start-ups to Fortune 50 companies, including power and gas utilities in the US and Canada, National Labs, Department of Energy, and the World Bank. A Lumina team won the Decision Analysis Practice Award from INFORMS. Lumina CEO, Max Henrion, won the Frank Ramsey Medal, the top award from the Decision Analysis Society.
What you will do You will work with Lumina’s renowned experts in energy and economic modeling, decision analysis, machine learning, and artificial intelligence—who will help you be successful. Our projects span many industries and applications, providing opportunities to learn new domains and apply a variety of technologies and methods. As a senior consultant, you will have the creative freedom to lead and find projects. We encourage our staff to seek clients and consulting projects that appeal to their interests and expertise.
What we offer Salary range is $120K to $180K, depending on your experience, plus a performance bonus. Lumina offers great benefits, including health insurance, 4 weeks vacation plus 1 week sick or personal time, matched 401(k) contributions, and stock options.
You should have:
Outstanding analytic and quantitative skills.
A creative and tenacious approach toward problem solving and mastery of new domains
A graduate degree in science, engineering, operations research, or other quantitative field
Experience building substantial computer models of energy, environmental, or economic systems
Experience with Analytica, Python, or other state-of-the-art modeling tools
Excellent speaking and writing skills for engaging with customers.
Expertise in one or more realms of energy or environment
Nice to have experience:
Leading or contributing to project proposals and business development.
Project and client management with ability to identify workable tradeoffs between budget, timeline, and scope of deliverables
Effective use of generative AI
Programming and software development
Optimization
Decision analysis and systems dynamics
Statistics, data analytics, and machine learning.
A passion for developing practical solutions to move our world onto a sustainable path.
