MSCP recently completed fundraising for North Haven Capital Partners Fund VIII, closing above the hard cap at $3.2 billion. Fund VIII is more than 50 % larger than Fund VII and positions MSCP to continue investing and deploying its value‑creation strategy.
The firm is recruiting an Associate to join the Portfolio Value Creation Team. The Associate will collaborate closely with portfolio companies and the Investment Team, identifying and executing operational value‑creation initiatives. The role may involve up to 30–50 % travel across the United States.
Key Responsibilities The Associate will work closely with portfolio company management teams and MSCP’s Value Creation and Investment teams to drive operational change and equity value creation. This role is based in New York with potential progression within portfolio companies or MSCP.
Driving Value Creation in the Portfolio (80% of total)
Work with portfolio company management teams and the MSCP team to drive operational value creation across the portfolio.
Specific projects vary in focus and duration. Typical projects include:
Driving day‑to‑day project management of key strategic initiatives with the management team, board, and MSCP.
Building business cases and leading the analysis/implementation of revenue‑growth initiatives (e.g., pricing, sales effectiveness, new products/markets).
Planning and executing post‑merger integration of add‑on acquisitions to drive growth and synergies.
Analyzing cost structures and identifying scalability efficiencies.
Supporting portfolio company CEOs to quantify broader, longer‑term strategic priorities.
Assisting with Due Diligence and Value Creation Planning (10% of total)
Support the investment team in conducting due diligence of new investments (e.g., team evaluation, market/commercial due diligence, analysis of company performance).
Assist the MSCP Value Creation Partner/Principal in developing a 5‑year Value Creation Plan and executing near‑term post‑close priorities.
Other Portfolio Support and Monitoring (10% of total)
Monitor ongoing company performance and adjust value‑creation priorities.
Support portfolio company exit processes and development of sell‑side materials.
Professional Qualifications
3–5 years of relevant work experience, ideally combining top‑tier management consulting and operational transformation/leadership roles.
Relevant undergraduate degree with strong academic performance.
Strong track record of success in current and prior roles.
Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills; structured and logical thinker.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple workstreams and stakeholders to deliver value.
General experience with strategy and operational value creation (sales, marketing effectiveness, pricing, post‑merger integration, synergy execution, etc.).
Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills with diverse stakeholders.
Broad company/sector experience preferred, ideally within service‑based sectors where MSCP invests.
Experience with private‑equity value creation and investor mindset.
