Job Summary Supports the development and submission of high-quality, competitive grant applications in the College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences. Works closely with faculty, researchers, and research development staff to ensure clarity, coherence, and compliance in written proposals for various funding agencies. Other duties as assigned.

Job Duties

Essential - Faculty Proposal Support:

Delivers technical assistance to faculty in the development of single and multi-authored proposals. Edits proposals for style, grammar, spelling, sentence structure and punctuation, also rewrites sections of proposals to increase readability and impact and fit into guidelines to ensure a presented finished document. Emphasis on issues for faculty with English as a second language (SVO agreement, parallelism, grammar, overly long sentences, single voiced document with multi-authors, formatting requirements).

Essential - Grant Writing:

Coordinates and writes various documents (e.g., biosketches, data management plans, postdoctoral mentoring plans, appendices of support depending upon the document) for faculty that are in the correct format for the different sponsors (NSF, NIH, DOE, DARPA, Dept. of Education, DoD).

Essential - Supporting Documents:

Coordinates and writes standardized documents for each department in the college pertaining to facilities, equipment and services available which would support research proposals. Updates these documents in terms of spacing, equipment, and availability to reflect new labs and faculty, and those no longer in service.

Essential - Training:

Coordinates and encourages faculty to submit large multi-disciplinary proposals by searching for opportunities and matching them to the faculty by disciplines. Looks for best practices in proposal writing and presents findings one-on-one with faculty or via workshops. Conducts presentation during faculty orientation explaining role in CECAS proposal development.

Essential - Web Page:

Regularly updates web page regarding new opportunities, and information on tuition remission, fringe, and indirect rates as needed. Writes various letters of recommendation as requested by the Dean. Edits/rewrites peer review journals for faculty. Occasionally assists other CECAS departments in creating documents such as consulting agreements, statements of work.

Minimum Requirements Education – 1st Bachelor’s Degree in business, personnel, grant-in-aid or public administration experience.

Preferred Requirements Work Experience: 1+ years.

Work Schedule Standard Hours: 37.5

Compensation Information Expected Pay Range: $39,764.00 - $55,000.00

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

Essential Personnel Level Normal Operations. Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
