JOB SUMMARY This statewide position will work serving as the designated food safety agent for the HGIC. The agent will coordinate, develop, and deliver online programs, manage social media, and support marketing initiatives for the FSS team. This individual will be assigned to the FSS team. Other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES

50% – Essential: Design, develop, and implement online food safety education programs for consumers. Create HGIC publications and collaborate with Food Systems and Safety (FSS) team members to produce additional written content. Provide assistance to South Carolina stakeholders by responding to food safety inquiries received through the Home and Garden Information Center (HGIC) via phone and email.

40% – Essential: Collaborate with the Food Systems and Safety (FSS) team to plan and deliver food safety‑focused social media content and marketing initiatives.

5% – Essential: Facilitate communication with Clemson Cooperative Extension, the Food Systems and Safety team, and other stakeholders by attending meetings and responding to emails, phone calls, and other work‑related communications; work with media specialists to disseminate information and publicize Clemson Cooperative Extension and the Food Systems and Safety program team.

5% – Essential: Maintain and submit internal reports (Salesforce or similar) or updates/data promptly as requested by the CAFLS Dean, Department Chair, Extension Director, and Food Systems and Safety Program Team Leadership.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education – Master’s Degree in Food Science/Technology or other related field.

Work Experience – 1+ years experience with home food preservation and with developing social media content and marketing strategies.

RESPONSIBILITIES

JOB KNOWLEDGE : Comprehensive knowledge of theories and practices and ability to use them in complex, difficult and/or unprecedented situations.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES : Acts as Lead by guiding the work of others who perform essentially the same work.

BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES : Monitors departmental budget and may oversee fund allocation (no direct input to budgeting).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Stand for prolonged period.

WORKING CONDITIONS Overnight travel may be required for Extension trainings and program team meetings.

WORK SCHEDULE Standard Hours: 37.5

COMPENSATION INFORMATION Anticipated Salary Range: $44,700 - $58,200

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL Normal Operations – Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on‑site during emergency situations.
