We are seeking a Publicity Assistant to join the Random House Group publicity team, supporting media-driven fiction and nonfiction campaigns across the Ballantine Group imprints, including Ballantine, Bantam, Dell, and Delacorte. This role offers a hands‑on introduction to trade book publishing in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and is well suited to a motivated, detail-oriented candidate who actively engages with media, takes initiative, and is ready to contribute at a high level from day one.

Responsibilities

Supporting the creation and execution of high-impact publicity campaigns for top titles across genres including commercial fiction, mystery/thriller/suspense, rom-com/romantasy, narrative nonfiction, and celebrity. Responsibilities include:

Assisting publicity staff on high-profile media campaigns for bestselling authors

Pitching media outlets and booksellers

Communicating with media, booksellers, in-house colleagues, authors, and agents

Writing pitch materials and researching media targets

Creating and managing author itineraries

Updating internal documents, databases, and systems

Coordinating mailings, publicity materials, and review copy requests

Organizing travel and hotel logistics for tours and special events

Processing invoices, maintaining campaign budgets, and assisting with data entry

Conducting online research to build and update media lists

Taking on additional assignments and projects as needed

Qualifications

Strong interest in book publishing, publicity and media relations, and books across genres

Deep familiarity with the media landscape across platforms, including digital, social, Substack/newsletters, and legacy outlets

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills

Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment

Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment

Self-starter who takes initiative and is eager to learn and grow

Proficiency with social media, internet research, and Microsoft Office Suite

The salary for this position is $51,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.

This hybrid position has occasional in-office responsibilities, including but not limited to in-office meetings, author visits or events, and daily ad hoc administrative projects. We will consider candidates who can work from a commutable distance to our offices at 1745 Broadway, which includes the tri-state area (NJ, CT, & PA).
