The HR data specialist will support the accurate processing and maintenance of faculty and academic employee transactions. This role is responsible for day-to-day data entry, quality checking, and error report corrections related to HR and payroll actions. Data specialists are expected to provide outstanding client support and guidance to the university community while working in HR systems and platforms. Job summary: supports human resources by reviewing and maintaining accurate data, employee records, and active job records and job postings. Assists with record audits and associated reports and effective customer service. Essential functions: Processes and reviews faculty and academic employee data, approval workflows, and documentation for university employment-related actions, including new appointments, reappointments, transfers, new hires, promotions, leaves of absence/sabbaticals, salary changes, position changes, and terminations. Reviews data for accuracy of employee actions including supplemental payments, error reporting triage, and new hire integrations. Supports compliance efforts by following established HR policies and procedures, ensuring actions are processed accurately and efficiently. Assists with record audits and mandatory reports. Identifies and escalates system processing issues to appropriate team members, contributing to process improvement initiatives that enhance the customer experience. Responds to routine inquiries and provides customer service support to clients from across the institution. Assists with data analysis, report preparation, and documenting procedures related to faculty and academic employee actions. This position provides an opportunity to develop operational expertise and knowledge of HR policies and procedures. Physical effort: little physical effort required. Duties are primarily sedentary.
