The City of Roseville seeks a

Police Chief

The City of Roseville is a full-service City with a City Council/City Manager form of government, which has 1,417.5 full-time equivalent positions, an annual budget of approximately $827 million and serves approximately 160,000 residents. Roseville is the largest city in Placer County and this fall was named by Money Magazine as one of the 50 best places to live in the nation, and by US News & World Report as one of the 50 healthiest counties in the country.

This position is part of the City’s department head team with a team culture that inspires collaboration and engagement, and supports diversity and quality of life. The Police Chief must actively engage and partner with the other 13 department heads of this growing, full-service city. This is an at-will position that reports to the City Manager, oversees five direct reports, and approximately 231 staff, and an annual budget of approximately $69.2 million. The ideal candidate will be an experienced law enforcement executive, with a cultural sensitivity and a commitment to an active mode of community policing and engagement. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge in pertinent local, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations; and organizational and management practices as applied to the analysis and evaluation of programs, policies and operational needs. The new Chief will be expected to cultivate and maintain effective partnerships with the community, elected officials, city staff, residents, and other law enforcement agencies to respond to emerging needs. The Chief must also embrace diversity and promote inclusion by being adaptable, empathetic, and an engaged leader with the highest level of integrity.

Experience

Seven years of increasingly responsible experience in law enforcement administration, including three years of administrative and management responsibility.

AND

Training

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

AND

License or Certificate:

Possession of a valid California driver’s license by date of appointment.

Possession of a Management Certificate issued by the California Police Officers Standards and Training Commission (P.O.S.T.) within six months of date of appointment.

Employees must be tobacco free and cannot use tobacco products on or off duty.
