Duties & Responsibilities
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Director of Business/Indirect Procurement Management is responsible for leading the contracting, compliance monitoring, vendor management, project oversight, and spend reduction efforts for business indirect/non-clinical categories. This role plays a pivotal part in managing capital acquisitions by collaborating with internal and external partners across planning, budgeting, project execution, contracting, and transactional phases. The Director will develop and implement strategic procurement initiatives that optimize costs, maintain quality, and ensure regulatory compliance within a large, integrated healthcare delivery system.
Strategic Planning: • Lead the indirect procurement function by developing and executing a comprehensive strategy to optimize spend across diverse non-clinical categories • Collaborate with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to align procurement strategies with organizational goals and operational priorities • Utilize data analytics and market intelligence to identify opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and supplier consolidation • Develop operating procedures, internal policies, and training guides to support consistent procurement practices • Partner with internal stakeholders to create scopes of work, request for proposals, and other solicitation documents
Operational Performance • Manage contracts and vendor relationships to ensure optimal pricing, service levels, and risk mitigation • Drive cost-savings initiatives while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations, organizational policies, and industry standards • Manage capital procurement activities in coordination with internal and external partners throughout planning, budgeting, project management, and transactional phases • Monitor supplier performance, manage risks, and resolve issues promptly to maintain uninterrupted service and supply • Develop and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to savings, supplier performance, and process efficiency • Prioritize procurement activities to meet end-user deadlines and expectations • Develop and deliver executive briefings to senior leadership, providing insights on supply chain performance, risk mitigation, and strategic opportunities • Perform related duties as required to support departmental and organizational objectives
Staff Development • Build, train, and lead a high-performing procurement team focused on operational excellence and professional growth • Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture that encourages continuous learning and improvement • Implement training programs to enhance team skills in strategic sourcing, contract management, and vendor relations • Promote effective communication and engagement across all levels of the organization
Financial Management • Lead spend reduction initiative and ensure effective financial management of indirect procurement budgets • Collaborate with finance and project teams to ensure accurate budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting • Conduct procurement audits and risk assessments to maintain fiscal discipline and compliance • Utilize financial data to track savings realization, cost avoidance, and return on investment

Minimum Qualifications 1. Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Computer Science, Management or other related discipline from an accredited college or university; and six (6) years of satisfactory, full-time paid responsible experience in information processing, program management, systems development or related activity in a large governmental agency, hospital or health care facility, or hospital-related business firm, three (3) years of which must have been in a managerial capacity; or 2. Master's degree from an accredited college or university in disciplines, as listed in "1" above, and five (5) years of experience, as described in #2 above, one (1) year of which must have been in a managerial capacity; or 3. A satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience.
