Job Summary:

The Director of Epic Operations (Non-Clinical) is responsible for the day-to-day operation and execution of the Epic program. This role focuses on operational leadership, project management discipline, staffing coordination, and delivery accountability to ensure Epic initiatives progress according to approved priorities, timelines, and resources.

Performance Expectations: • Runs the Epic organization with consistency, transparency, and operational discipline. • Ensures Epic initiatives are delivered on time and within approved scope and resources. • Maintains proactive visibility into risks, dependencies, and delivery barriers. • Effectively balances staffing and workload across Epic teams. • Communicates clearly with executive leadership and operational stakeholders. • Promotes accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration across Epic operations.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): • Reduction in backlog aging and stalled work items quarter over quarter. • Timely escalation and resolution of high-risk delivery issues. • Budget and labor variance maintained within approved thresholds. • Positive executive and stakeholder satisfaction feedback.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Provide operational leadership for Epic teams to ensure consistent execution and accountability. • Coordinate Epic work intake and workload balancing in partnership with application and informatics leaders. • Ensure Epic initiatives are delivered within approved scope, schedule, and resource plans. • Manage Epic assigned teams. • Support Epic budget development, staffing models, and vendor coordination. • Provide executive-level reporting on Epic delivery status, risks, and outcomes.

Application & Organizational Alignment: • Non-clinical Epic teams, including revenue-focused functions, align through this role. • Epic support, access, and change management functions align through Informatics leadership. • This role manages execution and delivery but does not own application build standards or clinical content. • Application ownership and final design authority are assigned by functional domain.

Qualifications:

Education/Skills:

Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare administration, information systems, or related field required.

Work Experience:

Minimum of five (5) years of healthcare IT, Epic operations, or enterprise project management experience.
