
Overview
Under direct supervision operates various types of office equipment, assists public, performs other related duties as required for operation of the Municipal Court
Qualifications
Education/Certification:
High School diploma or G.E.D.
Valid Texas Driver License
Municipal Court Clerk certification (within 1 year of hire)
Experience:
Two (2) years of recent work that includes extensive data entry, typing, filing, and extensive public contact, in person and by telephone
Knowledge of and experience with basic accounting skills
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Communicates effectively, courteously, and clearly in English with the public and employees by telephone, in person, or in writing
Process, copy, distribute, and file computer printouts, report forms, warrants of arrest including affidavits, alphabetically and numerically in standard
Accurately read, type, process documents, file and distribute information from various reports to various locations; filing includes filing in alphabetical and numerical order; processing information includes using a telephone, computer terminal, by mail and manually
Act as a Notary Public
Concentrate on assigned task through many distractions
Competently perform under stress when confronted with high priority situations and distractions
Perform a variety of tasks, often changing quickly from one task to another without the loss of efficiency and composure; prepare all dockets and cases for court presentation
Prepare trial paperwork
Prepare court docket
Accurately counts money, makes correct change and maintain cash box for fees collected by mail and in person
Retrieve, store and file original dockets in safe location; prepare daily deposits on fines collected and ensure that receipts correspond with money being deposited
Attend training schools/seminars which may require travel (occasionally overnight)
Simultaneously input, retrieve and maintain information, reading from computer screen and printouts and operating one keyboard
Accurately alphabetize and accurately record numbers in numerical order
Prepare and mail courtesy letters as needed
Interpersonal Skills Maintain positive relationships with members of the community, city staff, city administration, contractors, and other government agencies.
