Schedule Shift – Hours: Full Time – Days: 0800-1700
The Shipping and Receiving Specialist handles the accurate receipt, inspection, documentation, and distribution of all supplies, equipment, and materials for the laboratory. Ensures proper handling, storage, and tracking of a wide range of items including general supplies, specialized laboratory reagents, culture media, and hazardous chemicals while supporting strict compliance with institutional and regulatory standards.
Work Experience Three years of experience in shipping and receiving, inventory control, warehouse operations, or materials management, preferably in a healthcare, laboratory, or other related environment. Familiarity with inventory management systems, electronic receiving processes, or ERP software. Experience handling temperature-sensitive or hazardous materials preferred.
License/Registration/Certification None
Education and Training High school diploma or equivalent required.
Skills
Knowledge of shipping/receiving procedures, inventory control practices, and materials management.
Understands proper handling, storage, and temperature requirements for laboratory reagents, chemicals, and medical supplies.
Familiarity with hazardous material safety, including OSHA and basic laboratory safety guidelines.
Working knowledge of inventory management systems, electronic receiving processes, and ERP or supply chain software.
Strong attention to detail with accurate documentation and record-keeping abilities.
Proficient in operating material-handling equipment such as pallet jacks and transport carts.
Skilled at finding and resolving purchase order discrepancies, shipment issues, and inventory variances.
Effective communication skills for interacting with Purchasing, laboratory staff, vendors, and courier services.
Competent in preparing shipments, using online carrier systems, and coordinating deliveries.
Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks in a demanding environment.
Ability to safely handle and transport supplies, including temperature-sensitive and hazardous materials.
Ability to follow established procedures, keep clean and organized work areas, and ensure regulatory compliance.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, providing backup support to purchasing and inventory personnel.
Ability to troubleshoot receiving and documentation issues and follow through to resolution.
