Base pay range

$220,000.00/yr - $250,000.00/yr

The Role

As Director of Preconstruction , you will lead all preconstruction activities from concept through contract execution. You’ll collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, architects, engineers, and estimating teams to establish accurate budgets, schedules, and constructability strategies — setting each project up for success before breaking ground.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all preconstruction phases for major mixed-use, residential, and commercial projects.
  • Lead estimating, cost planning, scheduling, and risk management efforts.
  • Partner with development and design teams to assess feasibility and value-engineering options.
  • Manage consultant and subcontractor engagement during early project phases.
  • Establish and maintain preconstruction best practices, tools, and workflows.
  • Mentor and develop a growing team of estimators and project professionals.
  • Support business development efforts by contributing technical insight and cost data.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in preconstruction or estimating, preferably with a developer or general contractor.
  • Proven leadership in managing large-scale, complex developments.
  • Strong understanding of design coordination, cost modeling, and construction means/methods.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and client management skills.
  • Based in or willing to relocate to San Francisco, CA (local presence required).
