Overview

Office of Advancement, Marketing and Communications Location: New Orleans, LA Summary The Advancement Marketing and Communications Graphic Designer is responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and producing visual content that supports the communications and marketing goals of the university's Advancement division. This includes print and digital materials for fundraising campaigns, alumni relations, donor stewardship, events, and other engagement initiatives. The Graphic Designer ensures all materials reflect the institution’s brand identity and are visually compelling, accessible, and aligned with Advancement objectives. Working under the direction of the Assistant Creative Director, the Graphic Designer collaborates with writers, digital marketers, event planners, fundraisers, and external vendors to deliver high-quality creative assets across a variety of platforms.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Must be aware of current trends in graphic design and proficient in Adobe Creative Suites, including InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. Must work on the Mac platform and have experience in Microsoft Office. Must be well organized and able to work well under budgetary and deadline pressure, with the ability to anticipate and meet established deadlines. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with internal and external constituents.

Required Education and/or Experience

A Bachelor’s Degree in graphic design, marketing, communications or journalism with 3 years’ experience in graphic design, advertising, marketing, communications or a related field, to include experience in print and digital design (multimedia, email and web, as well as experience with the printing process/press checks and effective management of outside production vendors).

The Graphic Designer ensures all materials reflect the institution’s brand identity and are visually compelling, accessible, and aligned with Advancement objectives. Working under the direction of the Assistant Creative Director, the Graphic Designer collaborates with writers, digital marketers, event planners, fundraisers, and external vendors to deliver high-quality creative assets across a variety of platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

More than 2 years’ experience in graphic design, advertising, marketing, communications or a related field, to include experience producing multimedia, email and web graphics, as well as experience with the printing process/press checks and effective management of outside production vendors. Ability to work in an agency-like setting, collaboratively, with other members of creative project management and production in a fast-paced work environment. Knowledge of brand systems and developing design solutions within established brand guidelines. Ability to integrate interactive and print design with an excellent sense of color, type, and contemporary style, while maintaining brand integrity. Experience creating smart, compelling visual design that embraces a strong understanding of marketing and communications strategy. Experience in motion design or video editing.

Compensation Information

This position is classified as "exempt, salaried" and is assigned to pay grade 25.
