Job Description Summary
MUSC Community Physicians (MCP) is an entity within the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) that provides healthcare to patients within the rural health network throughout the state of South Carolina.
Role
The Executive Director of Ambulatory Operations has day‑to‑day oversight and P&L responsibility for all ambulatory clinics (>140 currently) within MCP’s provider network. As a senior leader, the Executive Director is expected to interface with other system leaders in driving enterprise‑wide initiatives across an integrated health care delivery network. Active engagement in the clinics and a commanding knowledge of both day‑to‑day operations and strategic alignment for both primary and specialty care are required.

Direct reports – 6 in‑market Directors of Operations
Responsibilities
Lead a team of in‑market Directors of Operations.
Provide support and guidance for daily operations, ensuring consistency and alignment in processes and standards across the network.
Establish written standard operating procedures for MCP’s clinics and standards of work for Directors and Practice Managers.
Own and operationalize in the RHN key system‑level strategic imperatives, including finance, service, quality, growth, people, and innovation.
Play a lead role in developing financial budgets annually, exercising oversight and responsibility to deliver MCP on budget, and developing action plans to address budget variances during the fiscal year.
Work collaboratively with a wide array of care team members and leaders from various functional areas.
Analyze operational and financial reports and identify opportunities for improvement, presenting findings and action plans to the Chief of Practice Operations and other health system leaders.
Promote a positive team culture based on respect and accountability.
Education & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
Minimum nine years progressive work experience.
Minimum four years management experience.
