Job Description The Texas General Land Office (GLO) is seeking a Loan Specialist II for the Veterans Land Board. The Loan Specialist II performs moderately complex (journey-level) loan specialist work. Works involves setting up, processing, servicing, and monitor mortgage loans. May provide guidance to others. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. The agency does so by preserving our history, maximizing state revenue through innovative administration, and through the prudent stewardship of state lands and natural resources. What Your Contributions to the GLO Will be: Originate new loans. Process 92%-97% of all newly assigned loan application (VHIP, forfeited and land loan applications) within 48-72 hours of receipt to comply with RESPA. This process consists of entering information into the database, checking for multiple use and mailing disclosures. Provides updates to all assigned borrowers regarding loan processes and procedures. Performs 92%-97% of new loan file reviews within three business days of receipt to comply with RESPA. Monitors receipt of loan documents. Must move 30%-40% of all completed assigned applications to the Loan Processor within 48-72 hours of completed application. Conducts reviews and audits of all loan processing documents within 48 hours of receipt to determine compliance with program requirements, contracts, laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. Must ensure that all loan documents are accurate and properly executed. Maintains and updates all loan files and current borrower information within the loan origination system. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in finance, business administration, real estate, or a related field is generally preferred. Two years of experience in finance, banking, or real estate work. Two to three years of recent mortgage loan processing experience. Education and experience may be substituted for one another. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in mortgage loans by setting up, processing, servicing and monitoring loans. Physical Requirements: This position requires the employee to primarily perform sedentary office work; however, mobility (moving around the worksite) is routinely required to carry out some duties. This position requires extensive computer, telephone and client/ customer contact and communication. It requires the ability to move and position oneself as needed for filing and similar routine office duties. The job also requires normal cognitive abilities requiring the ability to learn, recall, and apply certain practices and policies. It requires the stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions. Ability to read printed materials and computer screens. The individual must be able to move and transport records, documents, boxes, and all related information and materials, weighing up to 20 pounds when required.
