In this role, you will be instrumental in developing truss designs that not only meet structural requirements but also adhere to building codes and client expectations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in structural engineering principles and a strong proficiency in truss design software, all while maintaining a sharp attention to detail to ensure the highest standards of safety and quality. Key Responsibilities: Design roof and floor truss systems according to project specifications, architectural drawings, and engineering requirements. Utilize industry-standard software such as
MiTek ,
Alpine , and
AutoCAD
to generate precise truss layouts, designs, and shop drawings. Analyze structural loads, material constraints, and applicable building codes to optimize truss systems for both performance and cost efficiency. Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and production teams to ensure project goals and timelines are met. Review and revise truss designs based on client feedback or site modifications, ensuring structural integrity is maintained. Prepare material takeoffs and cost estimates for truss components to facilitate project budgeting. Ensure compliance with local and national building codes, safety regulations, and company quality standards. Address and resolve design-related challenges during the fabrication or installation phases. Qualifications: Education:
Associate's degree or higher in Structural Engineering, Drafting, Architecture, or a related field is preferred. Experience:
A minimum of
5 years of experience
in truss design or structural drafting within the construction industry. Software Proficiency:
Expertise in using
MiTek ,
Alpine ,
AutoCAD , or similar truss design software is required. Project Experience:
Experience with
Multifamily ,
Trac , and
Spec homes
is highly desirable. In-depth understanding of structural engineering principles, load calculations, and material properties. Familiarity with building codes, safety standards, and overall construction processes. Excellent problem-solving abilities with a focus on optimizing designs for performance, cost, and manufacturability. A keen attention to detail and accuracy in design and documentation.
