
The Human Resources Specialist is responsible for supporting the administration and coordination of employee relations and employee engagement programs. The Human Resources Specialist will work closely with the Human Resources Manager to ensure teammates within all levels of the organization are following policies and regulations, while embracing and encouraging a positive work experience, that is aligned with Castle Group’s core values. In addition, the Human Resources Specialist will support other functions within the Human Resources Department, as needed.
Responsibilities
Understand, interpret and communicate policies and procedures pertaining to Human Resources
Receive and effectively handle teammate complaints (via ticketing system, phone call, or email), by conducting a thorough investigation and offering recommendations on resolution. Escalating these complaints to HR Manager, when applicable.
Providing guidance and support to management throughout the performance management process to include drafting/reviewing coaching documents, attending coaching sessions and participating in termination discussions.
Conducts exit interviews, summarizes findings, and discusses trends and concerns with HR Manager
Works with HR leadership in implementation and roll out of employee engagement initiatives/goals
Facilitate the off-boarding process by drafting separation notices and severance agreements, and managing terminations in HRIS system
Support Teammate Action Form process by reviewing job changes to ensure state/federal compliance
Oversee I-9 re-verification process by compiling required documents and ensuring timely processing via HRIS system
Review and respond to unemployment claims; attend appeal hearings (as needed)
Facilitate and conduct trainings and workshops related to employee relation/engagement topics
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
• Human Resources experience with a concentration in employee relations and/or engagement.
• Knowledge of current federal and state labor laws and regulations including, but no limited to Title VII, EEOC, FLSA.
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office suite with intermediate Excel skills, experience with HRIS systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication; interpersonal, listening and presentation skills to establish effective, healthy and professional working relationships with all levels within the organization.
• Ability to perform with considerable independence and initiative.
• Organizational skills and attention to details to handle multiple tasks, short deadlines, frequent interruptions, and shifting priorities in support of changing company objectives
• Capability to communicate effectively and professionally with a diverse population in English both written and orally. Bilingual in Spanish is strongly preferred. Creole a plus.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or related field.
3+ years' experience in Human Resources, with strong knowledge and understanding of company policies and federal/state labor laws.
Strong critical reasoning, decision-making, and problem-solving skills to analyze situations
Must possess a mindset of continuous improvement identify, recommend and improve current processes
Excellent time management, customer service, attention to detail and organizational skills.
Maintain a professional image and confidentiality of all company records at all times.
Preferred Education and Experience
Master’s degree in Human Resources preferred.
Professional certification in Human Resources is strongly preferred
Analytical and problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to identify problems and systematically gather relevant information, identify root causes, and address data integrity issues
Ability to work independently and make decisions under tight deadlines, occasionally in the face of incomplete information
Ability to effectively problem solve to resolve employee issues and continually improve processes
Capacity to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment, while demonstrating resourcefulness and proactivity.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days depend on the nature and location of the assignment.
Travel
This position requires some travel, approximately 20% travel. Most travel is within state of Florida and may include overnight.
