Overview Job Title: Systems Engineer Slack Administrator
Duration: 10 Months
Location: Richmond/McLean, VA
Role Overview
We are seeking a Slack Platform Administrator to support the Collaboration team by managing additional Slack instances and assisting with their migration into the enterprise Slack environment. This role focuses heavily on Slack administration, security controls, access management, and instance migration. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience administering Slack in an enterprise environment and a strong understanding of Slack security models, guest access, and integrations. While development skills are not required, familiarity with Slack APIs and Slack app concepts is important.
Responsibilities
Administer and manage multiple Slack instances, including temporary or standalone environments
Ensure Slack instances comply with enterprise security standards, including access controls and lockdown requirements
Manage guest accounts and external access in accordance with security policies
Support the migration of Slack instances into the primary enterprise Slack environment
Assist with migrating Slack applications and integrations, including reviewing scopes and permissions
Partner with internal security and collaboration teams to ensure compliance and smooth transitions
Provide operational support for Slack-related configuration, access, and administration tasks
Required Qualifications
Hands-on experience administering Slack in an enterprise or large-scale environment
Strong understanding of:
Slack workspace settings
User and guest account management
Security and access controls
Working knowledge of Slack APIs and how integrations/apps function
Ability to operate independently with minimal training on Slack fundamentals
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Qualifications
Experience migrating Slack workspaces or consolidating Slack environments
Familiarity with Slack app development concepts (not required to code)
Experience working with enterprise security or compliance teams
Background supporting collaboration tools in large organizations
Interview Process
Technical interview focused on real-world Slack administration scenarios
