
Senior Human Resources Specialist - Employee Relations

What you'll do:
Partner with leaders and decision‑makers to advise, serve as a resource, and provide guidance on best practices and City policies.
Review and investigate concerns, formal complaints, and other issues.
Advise both management and employees during the discipline process.
Apply internal policy and HR law to on‑the‑job situations.
Strategize and problem‑solve collaboratively.
What you'll need:
Experience coordinating and conducting investigative interviews for policy violations.
Ability to coordinate and lead during high‑conflict situations.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated experience using professional interpersonal skills during difficult conversations.
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and utilize good discernment and decision‑making.

Qualifications and Requirements
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Public or Business Administration, Education, or a related field from an accredited university.
Experience:
Two years of professional experience in generalized human resources with employee‑relations work, or equivalent HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM‑CP, etc.).
Certification (preferred):
PHR, SPHR, SHRM‑CP, or a similar professional HR certification.
Licensing/Certification:
One or more professional HR certifications such as PHR, SPHR, or SHRM‑CP are preferred but not required.
Other:
Strong interpersonal skills, high level of confidentiality, and a collaborative mindset.
