The Southland Development Authority (SDA) is recruiting VITA Tax Preparers to support residents across the Southland with free, IRS-certified tax preparation services. This program helps families access refunds, credits, and financial stability while giving participants professional training and career-ready experience. Responsibilities
Prepare federal and state tax returns using IRS-approved software Enter and review tax data for accuracy Obtain electronic filing authorizations Protect taxpayer privacy and confidential information Follow IRS Quality Site Requirements and Code of Conduct Provide respectful, professional customer service Support community members from diverse backgrounds Work as part of SDA’s Financial Empowerment team Training Provided
All tax preparers receive FREE IRS-certified training, including: Volunteer Standards of Conduct Intake & Interview and Quality Review No prior tax experience is required — we train you. Who Should Apply
You are a great fit if you: Are detail-oriented and reliable Want to learn professional tax preparation Can work in a fast-paced, community-focused environment Speak English (Spanish is a plus) Program Schedule
