
Overview
The 1st Assistant Golf Professional is instrumental in assisting with the planning and implementation of daily golf operations, golf events, merchandising and golf instruction programs. The 1st Assistant Golf Professional will assist with overseeing the Member Services staff and is responsible for ensuring that all Members and guests receive outstanding service.
Experience Required
Minimum of three years' work experience in the golf industry.
Enrolled in the PGA Associates Program and actively pursuing PGA Membership.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Working knowledge of Point-of-Sale systems, tee time reservation systems and golf tournament software.
Demonstrated quality written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to analyze and solve problems; efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision; work flexible hours as required including nights/weekends/holidays.
Positive attitude, professional manner and appearance in all situations.
Essential Responsibilities
Daily golf operating activities, including: opening, closing and securing the golf shop, cart storage facility and bag room; managing the daily tee sheet and accurately applying Member charges; monitoring staff interactions to ensure proper service; maintaining clean, presentable and fully stocked merchandise displays; ensuring that the golf shop, storage areas, cart barn, and clubhouse grounds are maintained to appearance standards.
Assist in merchandising operations, including merchandise orders are recorded with proper quantities & prices, assist with maintaining par levels, ensure all items are properly tagged, and proactively arranged displays in a neat and functional manner. Assist with conducting monthly physical inventory counts. Be fully knowledgeable of golf shop merchandise, participate in selling merchandise and provide recommendations to Members when appropriate.
Regularly evaluate service levels and pace of play. Recommend plans for continued improvement.
Always interact with Members & guests in a professional manner. Maintain pleasant and professional telephone manners. Schedule tee times and assist with Member or guest inquiries in accordance with operating policies and procedures.
Assist with development, planning and conducting of growth of the game initiatives, junior camps and group instruction.
Assist with employment activities for Member Services staff, including but not limited to, scheduling, shift monitoring, personnel recruitment and selection, performance evaluations, and training.
Maintain knowledge of current and projected industry developments through continuous attention to golf industry periodicals and participation in relevant trade associations and organizations.
Perform additional duties as assigned to ensure a successful operation.
