Launch and scale the consumer sales organization across online and offline channels in North America. Role Overview
This leader will design and execute the go-to-market strategy for an extended reality (XR) consumer portfolio across the United States and Canada. The role owns regional P&L outcomes, market share, brand growth, and the localization of global strategies for North American consumers. You will build and lead a multidisciplinary organization spanning sales, channel and retail, consumer marketing operations, and user lifecycle management. Scope & Key Responsibilities
Market Strategy & Ownership
Define the overall consumer market strategy for North America, including segmentation, portfolio focus, channel mix, and brand positioning. Lead ongoing market intelligence on competitors, pricing, consumer behavior, and category trends, translating insights into strategic roadmaps. Set commercial targets for revenue, profitability, penetration, and brand health in partnership with global and regional stakeholders.
Sales Organization & Team Leadership
Launch and scale the North America consumer sales and distribution model. Hire and lead 6–7 consumer sales team members in year one and continue to grow a high-performing organization across sales/GTM, retail, and consumer marketing operations. Establish operating rhythms, KPIs, and performance management aligned with headquarters expectations and local market realities. Foster a culture of accountability, data-driven decision making, and entrepreneurial “0 to 1” problem solving.
Go-to-Market & Commercial Execution
Own end-to-end go-to-market planning for product launches, promotions, and seasonal campaigns. Develop an omni-channel strategy across e-commerce, direct-to-consumer, carrier/retail partners, specialty electronics, and other emerging formats. Coordinate cross-functional resources in marketing, product, operations, content, retail, and service to ensure high-quality execution and post-mortem learning. Own consumer sales targets and performance metrics.
Partnerships, Channels & Distribution
Establish partnerships, channel relationships, and distribution plans across North America. Represent the XR offering competitively against established players in the category.
Localization & Cross-Functional Alignment
Adapt global marketing, brand, and commercial frameworks for the North American consumer context, ensuring cultural relevance and regulatory compliance. Partner with product, content, and experience teams to influence product-market fit, feature localization, and ecosystem partnerships. Serve as the primary North America voice in headquarters discussions, advocating for local consumer needs and business priorities.
Compliance & Governance
Work with legal, compliance, privacy, security, and policy teams to ensure all programs comply with applicable regulations. Implement internal controls and training so the team operates in line with compliance and data protection standards. Take direct responsibility for the compliance posture of the North America consumer organization.
Senior Stakeholder & External Representation
Build and maintain trusted relationships with C-level and senior executives of key retail, channel, and ecosystem partners. Engage with media, influencers, and industry associations to elevate thought leadership and category presence. Regularly report performance, risks, and opportunities to executive leadership.
Ideal Background
Leadership experience in consumer electronics, XR/VR, gaming hardware, or other immersive/high-growth consumer technologies. Proven success launching and scaling products in competitive consumer markets, including ownership of sales targets, channel strategy, and marketing execution. Strong understanding of retail, direct-to-consumer (DTC), and channel partnerships across North America. Track record of building teams, processes, and culture from scratch, taking a business from “0 to 1” and achieving sustainable growth. Background from companies such as:
Large consumer tech brands with VR/AR products (e.g., Apple for spatial/VR/AR initiatives). XR/VR startups. Scaled consumer brands with complex omni-channel distribution.
High integrity with excellent stakeholder management and the ability to thrive in fast-paced, matrixed, cross-cultural environments. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or above in Marketing, Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Typically 10+ years of commercial experience in consumer electronics or fast-moving consumer goods, including at least 3 years leading and managing teams. Hands-on experience with North American promotion channels, retail ecosystems, and commercial policies.
