About the Role Under general supervision, the Underwriter is responsible for reviewing and processing Partial Experience Transfers and PEO / AEO transactions, ensuring accurate transfer of claims and payroll history in the Rates & Payments system, reviewing PEO audit worksheets, and supporting departmental quality control goals. Key Responsibilities
PEO/AEO and Partial Transfers:
Review and process Partial Experience Transfers and PEO/AEO transactions, ensuring accurate transfer of claims and payroll history in the Rates & Payments system. Customer Support:
Respond to inquiries from employers, legislators, trade associations, and other stakeholders regarding PEO and AEO transaction issues. System Utilization:
Use CoreSuite and Rates & Payments and other databases to manage account information and transactions. Audit Assistance:
Support the PEO audit process by reviewing audit worksheets and communicating with PEOs for general resolution. Compliance & Representation:
Represent the organization in adjudication processes related to PEO/AEO transactions and Partial Transfer Transactions. Collaboration & Projects:
Participate in cross-functional teams, assist with special projects or IT projects in support of Underwriting Consultants. Training & Quality Control:
Mentor and train staff, perform peer reviews, and contribute to departmental quality control goals. Benefits & Benefits Eligibility

To Qualify, You Must Clearly Demonstrate: Required Experience and/or Education 2 yrs. trg. or 2 yrs. exp. as underwriter for an insurance organization or agency comparable to Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation. Or completion of undergraduate core coursework in business, insurance & risk management, accounting, mathematical sciences or related field of study. Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above. Job Skills: Insurance Major Worker Characteristics:
Knowledge of (1) workers' compensation laws, policies & procedures; (2) insurance & risk management; (3) accounting or business administration; (4) manual classifications; (5) loss control; (6) English grammar; (7) oral & written business communication; (8) public relations; (9) arithmetic; (10) BWCs Experience Modifier calculation process; (11) underwriting; (12) claims processing relevant to compensation & medical payments.
