About the Role As a Junior Underwriter, you will be responsible for leveraging your expertise in credit assessment, market research, and risk management to drive well-informed lending decisions. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams, aligning loan deals with client needs and company objectives while ensuring the integrity of our lending practices.
Key Responsibilities
Credit & Risk A ssessm ent – Evaluate loan applications, analyze financial statements, credit reports, and related documentation to assess creditworthiness
Due Diligence & Research – Conduct research on borrowers, collateral, and real estate markets to ensure compliance with lending standards
Property & Market Analysis – Perform detailed evaluations of residential and commercial properties, including pre- and post-renovation valuations, market comparisons, and growth potential assessments
Deal Structuring – Collaborate with loan officers and senior credit team members to structure loan deals that meet borrower needs, offering tailored loan solutions and advising on optimal structuring
Stakeholder Collaboration – Maintain effective communication with internal teams to ensure a seamless underwriting process and professional customer experience
Risk Mitigation & Compliance – Identify and address risks, ensure adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements, and maintain a working knowledge of investor guidelines and industry best practices.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience considered
Prior experience in lending, mortgage, banking, or real estate a plus
Advanced mathematical and analytical skills
Strong understanding of lending principles, policies, procedures, and regulations
Technical proficiency with Microsoft Office products and underwriting software applications
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
