Key Account Manager – Energy
(Hybrid; based in Elgin, Illinois / Chicago, Illinois) to plan and execute business development activities to penetrate designated National and Key Accounts with the full range of HARTING products and technologies and achieve budgetary and medium term sales goals. HARTING aims to be a trusted advisor to HARTING customers and positions itself as the go-to source expert for industrial connectivity solutions. We partner directly with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Distribution partners for standard products, designed-in value-added products, and Product Development initiatives. The Key Account Manager – Energy will drive forward Energy Generation, Transmission, and Distribution across a range of Energy infrastructure applications. To succeed in this role, you will be highly driven to: Map network of manufacturing plants, design and decision making centers, supply chain methods, subcontractors, contract manufacturers and distributors associated with the designated key accounts. Evaluate the overall connectivity potential and determine the share of this potential by competitors on an ongoing basis. Propose and execute with management support, medium to long term penetration plans to maximize HARTING’s share of this potential and identify profitable new product development opportunities. Develop business relationships at the highest possible levels within the Key Account and major sub-contractors to cement company-to-company relationships and enable early access to future business. Coordinate all project activity with Market Development Management and Product Management to ensure efficient two-way information flow between HARTING and corporate divisions regarding product development, evaluation of potentials and international coordination as needed. Design HARTING products into the Account’s equipment and automation lines by working closely with customer engineering and supply chain personnel to gain approval for corporate specifications or individual project approvals. Review plans and other customer and industry standards to develop and prepare cost-effective solutions utilizing HARTING solutions. Analyze and propose changes in equipment, processes, or use of materials or services to achieve cost reduction or operational improvement. Provide technical training to client employees as needed. Prepare monthly reports to HARTING management on sales activity and forecast monthly sales, and prepare annual forecasts and medium-term goals for planning purposes. Represent HARTING at tradeshows related to the Account’s business. Maintain a timely and reliable record of all Account activity in CRM. May perform other duties as assigned. Requirements
Skills and experience to thrive in this role: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Electromechanical, or Computer Engineering). Five or more years of experience and/or training in technical solutions selling; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior knowledge and use of CRM; SAP preferred. Travel up to 80%. Compensation & Benefits
HARTING USA offers an attractive total compensation package and employee benefits, including: Base salary and bonus percentage within HARTING's Total Compensation Structure. Competitive base salary: $125,000 - $155,000 (commensurate with experience, subject to change dependent on physical location) This role is eligible for a 20% discretionary annual bonus. Benefits: 21 days PTO (Paid Time Off) to start – with potential for more over time. Medical, dental, and vision insurance – several Blue Cross Blue Shield plan options. Company-sponsored life, AD&D, and short- and long-term disability – at no cost to employee.
