
Simkhai is seeking an Associate Knitwear Technical Designer to work on the full lifecycle of knitwear development—from tech pack creation to vendor communication and fit approvals.
Responsibilities
Compile knitwear tech packs in full for construction, yarn and trim information, and specs
Own communication via email with vendor on tech pack and fit issues
Present to designer options for changes or revisions when needed
Participate in fittings from development through production on live fit model
Partner with cross functional teams on correct representation of samples on images
Maintain fit standards and study bestselling bodies in brand history
Ensure fit and grading consistency is applied across styles
Prioritize and communicate when work overlaps between seasons.
Work closely with product development and production team to stay on calendar
Compose fit comments from Development to Proto, to PPS, and TOP comments via Excel tech pack specs, and create comments in Illustrator
Update WIP reports with tech pack release and fit approval status continuously.
Fill in e-commerce chart when needed- style description/ measurements/ trims.
Ship and receive packages of fit samples to vendors consistently.
Maintain organizations archives of sample library
Qualifications
Must have 3-5 years’ experience in fully fashioned knitwear
Must have undergraduate degree in a Fashion related field from accredited university
Must have demonstrated understanding of fit, yarns, trims, grading, and placements and layouts
Must have demonstrated ability to work with a range of yarn and knit types, from fine gauge, to compact and novelty
Must have proficiency in grading, tolerances, and garment proportions
Must have strong application of Excel and Illustrator
Must have acute attention to details of formatting for cohesion of tech packs
Must have great written and verbal communication both internally and to external vendors
Must have demonstrated ability to identify origin of fit issues, and present options to resolve
Must be highly organized and have strong time management
Must be able to have clear written and verbal communication
Must be a Team player with a willingness to help others and learn
Must be a proactive problem solver
