Position Summary
The primary location of this position is on-site in Cullowhee, NC. This position is exempt from the State of North Carolina Human Resources Act (EHRA). Reporting to the Senior Director of Annual Giving and Engagement, the Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement strengthens alumni connections through leading engagement initiatives centered on the university’s academic colleges and affinity communities. This includes coordinating with Advancement and campus partners around communications and storytelling, volunteer involvement, giving opportunities, and events to promote meaningful alumni participation. This position supports college-based alumni engagement by developing partnerships with advancement, engagement, and communications to design and deliver strategies aligned with academic priorities. The role plans, promotes, and executes college-centered alumni events, programs, and recognition activities; supports affinity-based alumni communities through guidance, volunteer development, and engagement initiatives; and works with advancement partners to identify alumni prospects for volunteerism, leadership, and philanthropy. Responsibilities also include supporting giving campaigns and major alumni events, managing engagement portfolios, maintaining accurate engagement records, assessing outcomes and metrics for continuous improvement, and serving as liaison or support staff for designated Alumni Association committees.
Responsibilities
Lead engagement initiatives centered on the university’s academic colleges and affinity communities. Coordinate with Advancement and campus partners on communications, storytelling, volunteer involvement, giving opportunities, and events to promote alumni participation. Develop collaborative partnerships with advancement, engagement, and communications colleagues to design and deliver strategies aligned with academic priorities. Plan, promote, and execute college-centered alumni events, programs, and recognition activities. Support affinity-based alumni communities through strategic guidance, volunteer development, and engagement initiatives. Identify alumni prospects for volunteerism, leadership, and philanthropy in partnership with advancement. Support giving campaigns and major alumni events; manage assigned engagement portfolios. Maintain accurate engagement records; assess outcomes and metrics to inform continuous improvement. Serve as liaison or support staff for designated Alumni Association committees.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Excellent communication and written skills, strong organizational abilities, attention to detail, strong customer relations, a solid work ethic, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Able to work in the United States without immigration sponsorship. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of training and experience; degrees from appropriately accredited institutions.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with public relations, volunteer groups, event coordination, and Raiser's Edge.
